And with this, I skip a day and pretend to be caught up for a bit. (Day 8 has line-art, and can be finished tomorrow)I'm not so sure about the theme, but Moorhen chicks are the most amazing of chicks I know of. THOSE FEET! Also the bald head thing makes me thing 'my preciousssss' as in Golum - so there's that too.

As I was taught it, kayaking on my old local canal where we used to see a lot of these, moorhens have red beaks, coots have white. (The R in mooRhen for Red)

Do moorhen keep those out-sized feet or grow into them?

They're still pretty large, full grown, I think - but nowhere near as fun as when they're babies.
At least I never noticed the adults' feet so much, but every nest with chicks I used to go past, I'd have to stop for a giggle at each one.
