Remember seeing so much fan art of them back when the movie was released (in 2004), much of that art now is either deleted or in storage away from us to enjoy it.

I got immediately they were Scar and Lex, Lex is perfectly recognizable even without the scar.

Ignore those Machigo-fangirls. It's competely different thing and way better storyline. Two actually as equal partners as there can possibly be and it is way better than some selfish, nagging back-stabbing bitch with crappy attitude.

thanks XD though i DO like machiko too, i just don't like saying one is better than the other. they're both different and cool in their own way. some similarities some differences. machiko has a bit of a 'tougher' exterior w/ trust issues unlike Lex who we get to see build a more stable relationship w/ the yautja.

It's okay that you forgot. The entire story-line as well as said "scar" are stolen from the story of Machiko Noguchi and Broken Tusk anyway, so you just failed at fanart of plagiarism anyway.

Lol good point, machiko was the first to have the scar (hell I even think the book version of AVP had the scar on Lex's forehead rather than her cheek like in the movie which is even closer to machiko's storyline since hers IS on her forehead). I'm all about machiko and it being a copy that Lex got the scar, but i do think they're different enough characters to be able to deserve their own markings (plus I'm assuming they were from yautja of different clans). idk

I wouldn't consider it "stolen". Enough differences between the two couples allow them to stand on their own, with their own merits and flaws.
1. Dachande/Yeyinde was an honorable and wise Elder. Scar was an unblooded student. If one wanted to make a clear-cut analog then the Elder seen at the end of the movie would be Yeyinde's movie counterpart. Going by looks, however, shows that Yeyinde was still in his younger middle age; he wasn't graying yet.
2. Machiko was more akin to Ripley than Alexa. That trigger happy female character Adele Rousseau was more Machiko's movie counterpart in spirit. Alexa was strong but she was suited to be paired with an unblooded like Scar because she was still frightful and would probably wear an Elder's nerves thin to the point of abandoning her. Machiko was able to keep up to Yeyinde's constant head-in-first frays with random groups of Xeno. To a point, she had to shoot one in the head to get his attention from being in the moment.
3. Different clans too. Yeyinde's clan association is the "lightning bolt" symbol. To where if a member of that clan met up with Harry Potter they would think he was blooded (and after Voldermort, well, yeah. Tangent!). Scar's mark is a very basic hieroglyph of the Xeno. The upper slash denotes the elongated (and sexually suggestive) phallic-shaped head, the lower slash is the body.
Yeyinde x Machiko satisfies the fans who want seasoned fighters of middle ages from both species. Scar x Alexa have a more odd innocence attached to them. Seeing Scar is considered a Predator right on the cusp of adulthood and Alexa is as well in Human terms (part of the movie's beginning [~25 minutes in] details Alexa dealing with her father's death which is a hint to her own life's rite of passage).
I typed all that to say: I love these two sketches; they capture that innocence unique to Scar x Alexa that Yeyinde and Machiko probably wouldn't have unless they were a touch OOC.

OOOh^^ this!! way better than i could put it! While surely Lex and Machiko have similarities (heck even as a kid when i first saw AVP i noticed it!) they really do have enough differences to the point that if Lex and Machiko ever teamed up it would just be the coolest to me! They'd fight differently, have different weapons, and different relationship w/ the yautja (depending on the clan of course). Love all these points thanks! (esp. about how scar is a younger yautja to the ones that machiko often dealt with). Ha, thought this does make me want to revisit Yeyinde and Machiko again as characters so I can see it all again!
