About time I make a reference sheet for another one of my monster men OCs.

Name: Kaluk
Nationality: African-Caribbean
Age: 160 (appears in his mid to late twenties)

Height: 6’3”
Personality: sadistic, somewhat reclusive, greedy, and mischievous.
Likes: voodoo, shadows, controlling people, making potions, alligators, snakes, and doing tricks.
Dislikes: getting caught in his trickster acts, rival witch doctors, trespassers in his bayou, people who stereotype witch doctors and his race, and being insulted.

Having migrated to New Orleans, Louisiana from somewhere in the Caribbean when he was a teenager, Kaluk would develop an interest in practicing voodoo after meeting Marie Laveau. However, throughout the years of doing so, the power he acquired after learning such magic got the better of him. His greed for more power consumed him which then led to getting involved with dark aspects of voodoo and spiritualism. This caught the attention of a demon who offered him abilities that would surpass even those of Laveau herself in exchange for his humanity. As a result, a permanent skull marking formed on his face (no, it’s not makeup) and he has not aged since that day.

To this day, he’ll occasionally walk the streets of New Orleans pretending to be a magician who performs tricks for fun. Though in reality, Kaluk would use a little bit of actual dark magic resulting in some sort of disaster for those gullible enough to fall for his tricks. He also uses this as a diversion to steal food and money from whomever he pleases. When he’s not in the city, he dwells in a hut somewhere in a bayou he had claimed as his own. It’s there that he tamed and befriended various reptiles inhabiting the watery ecosystem and where he does the more serious voodoo, especially to those who stumble across his abode. He’ll become agitated upon seeing trespassers on his property, proceeding to control them with dolls he crafted himself before torturing them. Sometimes Kaluk would kill his victims depending on who they are and if they were ever rude to him upon first meeting him in the city streets. As for the victims he’s more merciful towards, he warns them not to speak of the incident or else they’ll end up either dead or endure a curse for the rest of their lives.

Kaluk will become envious of any other corrupt witch doctor he learns about who is just as strong as him, sometimes even challenging them. Often times, he’ll end up as the victor. Despite already having attained immortality as a voodoo-practicing shadow demon, he yearns to remain on top of every witch doctor in his local vicinity.
