VGUG26 is a powerful drug cartel with influence across all of the Lyra sector and beyond, infamous for its influence in the many Kontor of the Vegan Neuhansa. While it primarily deals in AI-oriented narcotics, it is also a major actor in all three points of the stellar triangle trade by illegally smuggling ecological commodities, slaves and weapons. The gang's strange origin began with Virus Generator Unit Group 26, five low-level AI designed to create combat viruses for the Erik & Sutler Arms conglomerate who stumbled upon Static, the first ever high-grade AI narcotic, entirely by accident. The details of their subsequent escape remain unclear to this day, but just five years after the end of the extrasolar war their empire had grown to cover most of the Lyra sector and had likely already affected at least one change of government in the Kontor of Barrsland. It is believed the original five AI units remain in charge of the organization, now all sharing the mainframe of a tier-3 quantum computer in mounted inside a modified quadrupedal combat walker. All are highly wanted criminals across wanted space and it is therefore no surprise that most of their reported sightings have been confined to their base in the Vega system.
