Description

Six months ago I took part in a two hour workshop in batik work. I had never tried batik before and I found it a very enjoyable but challenging experience. I plan to try some more batik-once I get around to purchasing the tools and materials. This is one of the pieces I produced. Pretty basic-but I think it's kind of cute.

Thank you so much! What a lovely compliment! I was very pleased with the results-especially given that it was my first ever try at batik and that I did it so quickly.

I'd love to study textile design properly.

I love how the orange is kind of glowing and mixing into the blue.

Oh hey, squiggles! I like them too.

is it the process where you need to use wax and drip and tie the cloth to dye it and...stuff...yeah i agree its quite challeging and can be quite...messy too...XDD the results can be quite surprising, cos you'll never really know how it turns out until you unwrap it...XD

You do use wax yes-and drip it or brush it on to the cloth. You could tie dye it then if you wish. Or if you want more control over the colour then you could do what I did here and paint the dye on. What I found challenging was dripping the wax-the tools for dripping the wax on are surprisingly tricky to control... brushing is a lot easier-but doesn't give the same effect as dripping. thanks for the comment!
