“Sailing Under the Heavens”

Both are glaive wielders, members of legendary groupings (Emperors/Heavenly Generals), and prominent figures of the older, legendary generation that give up their lives on the battlefield in a huge battle, one which ultimately leads to their demise, although not before fulfilling a goal (Freeing Ace and killing Fuu Ki). Both are larger than life figures, and were delivered a fatal blow by a surprise element and enemies (Blackbeards ganging up on WB, and an arrow being shot at Ou Ki during his duel with Houken). They’re commanders of armies that are like family to them that go and aid the MC who they’ve passed their wills down to later on (Marco and Tou’s unit). News of their death shakes the world and their influence still is felt later in the story.
