Description

Tomorrow, October 1st, is the feast day of St Therese of Lisieux, also known as "The Little Flower of Jesus."

She became a Carmelite nun at age 15 and was well-known for her devotion and kindness. Her spirituality was focused on infusing every small task of the day with great love for God. She called it her "little way." Therese loved roses, and once famously said "After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my heaven doing good on earth." It's become a common devotion to St Therese to pray a novena and ask for a sign of roses. St Therese is considered a Doctor of the Church for her writings on spirituality.

I'm particularly fond of St. Therese because she's my Mom's patron saint. At the request of a friend, and in honor of her upcoming feast day, I wanted to draw something nice. I decided to depict Therese strolling serenely through her Carmelite monastery at Lisieux, carrying her flowers.
