They went all over the place in time with Sims. ( i love the weird canon too)
Sims: Adults with one child girl.
Sims2: Old/Bella missing with daughter grown up and a little brother.
Sims3: Both kids.

I don't actually own TS3, I've been playing my sisters, but I absolutely adore the weird canon storyline that EA/Maxis have going throughout the games. Also Bella and Mortimer are so OTP. SO OTP.
