Legend has it that Ninetales can live for thousands of years and possesses many mystical powers.

I dithered for a long time over whether Vulpix and Ninetales should have blue or red flames. Red would be more accurate to both the cartoon and the games, but they're obviously based on the Kitsune legend and 'foxfire' is usually blue. In the end I went with the more mystical-looking blue flames.
