At first progress was relatively steady, you managed to tug the tight fabric from between her toes and pull it hand over hand steadily away from her foot. Suddenly, you found yourself falling to the table as the slack immediately went out from the sock. Glancing up, you saw Miss Makima's foot hold the end of the sock tightly, blocking further progress.

Did she seriously expect you to be capable of something like this? Did she even know what she was doing? Not wanting her to glance down and see you slacking, you tried to hopelessly tug at the now immovable sock.

Your lack of progress didn't go unnoticed. After half an hour of hopeless labor, a dissatisfied look was creeping onto Makima's face. You had already heard rumors about how the hire before you had to be "let go" after they couldn't keep up with expectations, and, unfortunately, it seems that you were on track to experience that process first hand.
