Oils on canvas. Entirely palette-knifed - made myself a nice palette out of a spare bit of glass from a frame that broke, much nicer to work from than my plastic ones. Cleans up easier, too.Well, two paintings in one day - I was really feeling in the mood for painting, I guess. This is based on one of many ancient oak trees near where I live; the stream isn't. The streams around here are a lot muddier, hah. Although it's still summer, there's a feeling of autumn in the air; blackberries are beginning to go over, leaves have turned brown early because of the heatwave, mushrooms are sprouting, and there was a scent of woodsmoke on the cool night air through the window last night. I love all the seasons, but there's something magical about autumn.

Same here. The sorting system has its quirks, but I feel that they have gotten a bit better about pushing amazing art like this to the front. While I like anime, I would like to see actual art like this more often than not.

Thank you. I find that sorting by "Popular 1 week" or even further, 1 month, helps to filter out some of that stuff heh. Not all though. Following accounts or groups that produce traditional media or the styles you like tends to be the best: I like most everything by Leonid Afremov (www.deviantart.com/leonidafrem… ), all of Clara Tessier's animal paintings (www.deviantart.com/claratessie… ), Ralph Damiani's work - especially the LOTR inspired stuff, it's digital but very nice I think (www.deviantart.com/ralphdamian… ), and Kalina Toneva's lovely nature watercolours (www.deviantart.com/kalinatonev… ), just for some inspiration, heh!

Nice color on this; it's dark enough to be ominous but peaceful at the same time. Would probably look amazing in a room where different light hit it at different times of day - bringing out the different moods!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment. I was trying to capture that sort of "autumn feeling", where the nights are starting to draw in and feel chilly but the leaves haven't fallen yet, so everything has a bit of a glow to it in the sun. Really glad that came across
