Description My last drawing as a 15 year old ;^;

Since over the weekend I didn't have my tablet I spent a lot of time working on this traditional piece, I've been meaning to draw these two together and I really like how this turned out. I've had to wait until today to post it because we didn't have wifi either OTL

On the left is Mizuko Rymmer holding Karumen and the on the right is Lady Ebony (Ebony Magshire)
Mizuko was never able to carry a child to term until Karumen and was never able to since while Ebony cannot even begin to have a child in the first place.
They're the two struggling mothers and I really wanted to put them together in a picture ;n;

Mizuko:

Hope you like it~

Thank you for replying!

May I ask one more?

What materials do you normally use/ what did you use to draw and shade this? >.<
 I need to learn from Senpai! (Yes, you.  )

No problem, you can ask as much as you want!

I use either 0.5 or 0.7 point mechanical pencils to draw and shade. Sometimes I'll use my finger to smudge.
Me QmQ////?!?///

Thank you so much! *hugs*

I see.

I'm assuming you draw first then decide where to shade in?

Do you use references sometimes?

How thick/wide do you often draw your hair strands/hair bunches?

Thank you so much again!

o.o How do you make the script so small?

SRealms In reply to SaraAliceKirara [2016-05-12 00:30:53 +0000 UTC]

I 'sketch' out what I want first (I put 'sketch' in apostrophes because I really just jump to the linework traditionally, as long as it's just pencil) So I have all the lines set out before I begin to shade. However, I usually have a clear image of how I want the shading to look before I even start.

I use references from time to time if I'm having trouble with a pose, but I like to change up the pose so it isn't exactly the reference's pose. I feel like that's cheating a little bit even though it's not.

Most of the time when I draw hair, I keep it in one big 'clump', if I want extra strands I break up the larger clumps. A good example of how the strands look when I draw hair is good here: Salute!  or here: Valentines Day
I can't really describe how I do it well, if at all, because most of the time I don't really think about it.

Np!
You make script small by writing < small > without the spaces and to make it even smaller add < sub > or < sup > without the spaces, conclude the sentence with without spaces.

Ohhh, I see!

Thank you so much!

What's your ratio of hair to head? ( Hair ratio is normally from the top of the hair to the area where the hair strands come out from. The head ratio is how many hair ratios fit into the head. )

How do you typically draw the head?

How do you typically draw the body?

I was also watching some of your speed painting on your youtube channel as well! It’s very pretty, but how did you know where to place shadows ( not the hair shine! ) on the hair and where to put shadows on clothing?

I see. Thank you, Sensei!

These questions are where I turn into a horrible teacher, my answer is really just: I don't know. I don't think about it much when I'm drawing the hair, head, or body...I just draw it. I wish I knew what I did or how to explain it because I don't know how.
As for shading, it's basically the same story. Except I put shadows I think wherever shadows would normally be cast. QmQ

You really don't have to call me 'Sensei', you could call me SRealms or SR if you'd like ;^;
