I don't know his personality all too well but since he typically has the stoic look maybe more frustrated or angry looks? Maybe even determined or you could go with expressions for when he has the rug pulled out from under him and he's surprised about it?

Thing is, he's actually fairly lighthearted when not on really serious missions. Still, the idea of him being surprised with something is actually somewhat appealing. I'll see what I can do.
