I always admire Rapunzel's story more than the other fairy tales, besides The Little Mermaid. Maybe because of the long golden hair and the unusual name.I have long knew her name was a type of vegetable (rampion), and it has such a lovely pronunciation.
And i was sort of disappointed that Disney's Rapunzel story did not really mention why she was named after a plant, because i loved the reason of her name...
But the movie was still fantastic and visually satisfying.
I kind of dislike the colour of her dress, maybe because i've always imagined it muted green, but i saw a concept drawing of her in that colour and i was so happy.

The original is also one of my favourite fairytales and I always loved the connection with the plant - glad I'm not the only one!

I believe the reason she was named Rapunzel after the plant was probably because her hair grew on and on like a vine, or a weed or something! Just my speculation. x) lol This is a very lovely drawing, though~ I love the texture~

I guess i understand why they settle with pink/purple dress, to make her look more youthful.
And her name is a huge part of why she was locked up in the tower in the original story, but then maybe with the whole story changed, they can't find a way to explain it anymore.

Yes the story is like that, and i loved it like that, simple and a little dark.
But Disney's fine, still a very nice story. They just need the long golden hair and the lock up in tower idea. At least they used the name Gothel, cause it's in the original story. But i always wonder what's the use of the witch locking her up there alone.

I know! She could take the poor thing to see the forest or a faraway village or something, dunno... At least this way she wouldn't be so eager to get out of there! XD Ah, that's the magic, to keep it simple.

With the technology in animation right now, i don't think why they shouldn't.
Maybe for another nice movie, but i heard that this will be their last princess movie.

I heard that too but like the CEO or someone important to the company said that they're gonna keep making good, entertaining movies and continue the tradition of Disney.
