Description We drive forever into the sun-west-
yawning as the landscape dulls the eye.
The heated city slides by...no friction
can keep us still for long. The world must spin.
The radio spits static. Do you mind
changing the station? It all makes sense.

We took a break from common sense,
walked out of your door and headed west.
No particular destination in mind,
just the road, reflecting in our eyes,
and the wheels continuing to spin
gripping the dirty street, creating friction.

Reminds me of another night when friction
melted away. I often have a sense
of greater purpose, putting a spin
on the way the world can push you west.
I love being in the car with you, your eye
a chip of ice in the dark. A lovely mind.

But sometimes, I get frusterated with that mind-
want to forget you, maybe cause some friction,
rub you the wrong way, give you the eye...
Sometimes I love you. It makes no sense.
We're lonely here, out in the west.
It's made my thoughts run mad, made them spin.

I watch the roadside litter bounce and spin.
We're talking loud, paying the road little mind.
The sun is slowly, surely, creeping west.
Between us now it's smooth, no friction.
I'll be your friend forever, in every sense,
cross my heart and stick a needle in my eye.

We're grinning, singing, eye to eye-
gravity is making this world spin,
and in this moment everything makes sense.
Everything is held in every mind
and the earth is perfect in all it's pomp and friction
in this car, the two of us, headed west.

It just makes so much sense, this balanced friction-
friendship, two minds, the wheels as they spin-
eyes ablaze, we're driving west.
