Varta the Orion battles a Tzenkethi assassin down in the bowels of Deep Space Nine a few hours after meeting with Constable Odo. My OCs by www.deviantart.com/raystorm41 .

Varta had noticed someone following her ever since she arrived on DS9 but said nothing to Odo about it. She knew that the Constable would want to mobilise his deputies and that would scare off whom ever it is. So, she returned to her ship and slipped on her stealth suit. She located the stalker down in the station's nearly deserted lower levels and confronts him there, out of sight.

"Well well well... the Syndicate sent a Tzenkethi after me?" Varta says as she emerges from the shadows, sword drawn. "I'm flattered they've spared no expense!"

Her choice of using the sword was well thought. She knows disruptor or phaser fire would be picked up by the station's internal security sensors and bring unwanted 'attention'. The sword will be quiet and she knows that her superior Romulan blade can defeat the Tzenkethi's armor.

The Tzenkethi assassin turns to face the Orion. He is clad in fine Tzenkethi armor, designed to defeat most particle and bladed weapons. Varta can't see the face beneath the polished helmet, but she immediately recognises the body armor he wears and sword being drawn. This particular Tzenkethi has earned a reputation for getting the 'job done'. Several dozen souls have met an 'unfortunate' end at the hands of this killer.

"The Syndicate has paid handsomely for me to end you!" The Tzenkethi replies. His voice echoes with a mechanical ring.

"Really? Too bad you won't live long enough to spend it!" Varta laughs as she springs into action, slashing aggressively with her sword.

The Tzenkethi assassin is ready for her assault and parries her blow. The sound of their blades clanging against each other in a deadly dance fills the empty corridor. The two killers parry and thrust, barely evading the kiss of their opponent's weapon. The Tzenkethi, amazed at the nimbleness and speed of the Orion finds himself fighting harder to counter her blows. After a few more moments he falls back, and attempts to draw her in so that he can launch a counter strike. When Varta closes in the Tzenkethi parries then lashes out, his counter assault seems to have caught her by surprise and she stumbles back.

The Tzenkethi is hearted by his initial success and presses home his attack, unleashing a flurry of blows against Varta as the Orion continues to fall back. She avoids his thrusts and begins to evade his assault completely, causing him to step up the fury of his attack. As he steps forward trying to counter her evasive actions he falls deeper into the trap she's laying out for him.

Finally, after a few more moments of feigning retreat, Varta parries then steps back one last step. This causes the Tzenkethi to lunge after her and he spins off balance. The crafty Orion whorls and avoids his final blow then leaps delivering the blow that sends the Tzenkethi's head clattering off of his shoulders and into the shadows in a shower of blood.

Varta lands on her feet, sheathing her sword. She grins slightly as she looks over her handiwork.

"Gotta clean up this mess..." she mumbles to herself. "Can't let Odo find out. He would not understand.."

Varta takes out a vial of Tholian cleaning salution and pours it on the body, blood, and head... disintegrating everything not leaving a trace.

"Now to change and meet Quark.."
