They call them rat rods because they all have the exact same looking small block chevy.

... and I'm a Ford guy, I'd prefer to see Ford engines in Ford vehicles, etc... besides that though,
I'm pretty sure it's about their obvious "ratty" appearance too... and the small block Chevy is the mouse,
and the big block Chevy was always referred to as the rat

It's just a new style of Hot Rod,it's a kulture now,I like it because you see young Guys and Gals,building the Rods themselves the way it's meant to be.To be what I consider to be what Hot Rodding is all about.Building and personalizing your car to be what you want it to look like.
