I just book marked this link you put up for Nikon...wow! it's great. I am starting to save for a new lens. I love close ups/macro work and there are those our there that tell me to get the 105mm f2.8 lens. It is expensive but it may just be what I am looking for. I am trying to see work done with this lens before I make a purchase. Do you have any suggestions?

StamatisGR In reply to KarenFiore [2009-03-01 08:51:19 +0000 UTC]

I think it's a great choice Karen. Probably the best you can have. I've shot some macros in the past, but as I was tight on budget, I just used some good quality close-up filters

I've been using a table I found on a tutorial at stock.xchnge. Has the focal length on the left from 17-105mm, and the aperture on the top from f2.8 to22. Using the table gives the resulting hyperfocal range. A separate table is given for full frame and various cropped sensors.

I haven't used hyperfocus with digital, I'm more used to doing that with my old SLRs. I shall give it a go!

StamatisGR In reply to Eliza-mac [2009-02-20 06:40:01 +0000 UTC]

I used to use it more with film, but it's great in digital as well
