for good or bad, don't judge a species by symbolism.
humans live in a world of symbol and metaphore and stories. it's what makes us, us(untill we discover that parrots make poetry, dolphins have folklore, apes speek in idioms)

without it we are empty.

but, when an animal is seen as what it means, and not what it is, or does in the natural world, it can be dangerous.

don't hate owls because some culture says they are an omen of death, don't elevate owl to a status beyond humans "because it is the most wise of all birds"

don't kill snakes, because a religion says "demon looks like snake and speak lies". on the other hand, don't try to cure your cancer with a python.

the photos used are my own

I hate how the Bible says that ostriches are cruel to their own young. I know that isn't true, because if it was, ostriches would have gone extinct long ago. I wouldn't dare take a baby ostrich away from its mother unless there was a good reason to. Plus I think that ostriches are amazing birds.

I also hate how people think that cats are mean because they kill mice. If we didn't have cats to kill mice, there would be tons of mice all over the place and they would cause lots of damage. Mice are low on the food chain - expect lots of animals to kill them.

I find it ironic that bears are seen as cute and cuddly because bears are actually very dangerous animals. Doesn't stop me from liking them though.

I know! My pet peeve is how people say crows are ominous and they call a group of crows a "murder." HUH?? Crows may be very intelligent birds, but that's what they are, BIRDS.

I wish people would stop projecting aspects of themselves they aren't proud of onto animals and then having the gall to punish them for it... and birds too of course.

Just because a group of Crows is called a Murder doesn't mean it's stigmatizing the birds. It's just a term for the group.

Totally true! My theriotype isn't a rat because they're sneaky, et cetera. It's because that's what I was in a past life. My memories I get are of normal rat things, i.e., mostly it's searching for food. My memories seem to lack thoughts of "trickery" and "falseheartedness" even though as a person today I am a compulsive liar. It's just who I am. Or, rather, who I was.
