Meelo is taking some notes down about a set of ruins and Safir is curiously watching. Safir doesn’t really understand all the archaeological terminology but he’s still happy listen when his bf tries to explain it to him.

A little bit of background on these characters:

Meelo is your average archaeologist. Absorbed in his datapad a lot of the time, detail-oriented, extremely dedicated to recording his findings. As a young rodian fresh out of university, he decided to sign on with a crew that could take him farther than his home planet. He wanted to go beyond the historical records he's read and see some of the galactic wonders for himself. Perhaps even make some new discoveries (the galaxy is a pretty big place after all).

Enter Safir! Safir is a spice trader -- spice here meaning (usually) legal seasoning added to food for flavor -- who built his reputation from scratch. He deals in the finest rare spices and sells them for respectable sums of money. Down the line, he gains the label of "pirate" once the Galactic Empire comes to power, taking over planets and shutting down/regulating trading lanes. However, his patrons continue to pay enough to keep him in business.

Safir has a healthy dose of disdain for the Empire for cutting in on his perfectly legitimate business. Meelo has a decent amout of hatred for it because of the Empire's flagrant disregard for historical sites. Anyone who would defile an irreplaceable piece of history is, in his mind, a menace to society.
