"OH MY GOD" was kind of my first reaction when I saw this, then thinking that "THIS FEELS PROFOUNDLY DIFFERENT WHAT THE HECK"
And so therefore I, (the great Sherlock 2.0), went on the search for the "why."
Here's what I was able to find.
e.deviantart.net/emoticons/m/m… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="578" title="Meow :3"/>
Now I don't know whether you've intended any of this or if you're hoping that people notice, but really the first thing that just struck me was the whole face in particular. You see, I'm really used to your expressions which are mostly a light and shy smile (like in "Grove", "Last Sunset", "Bye" or "Minty Fresh"). And even though we've got another one here I really felt that something was entirely different. It's not easy finding out what, but I figured that muzzle plays a big role? I don't think you've ever drawn them this way, starting next to that facial hair already, going up to that nose, adding dimension and a generally new and (awesome) shape that really feels new to me. I absolutely love it! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/d/d… " width="21" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="574" title="I am a dummy!"/> (Personally I've had the same happen to my style, it's now just a year ago that I've begun drawing muzzles in 3/4 perspectives as well)
So the muzzle is one thing, but then like years after staring at this I made that profound discovery that left me wondering how I was ever able to miss until now: Your eyes are drawn in two different ways! Like, I was used to yours not being white at all but colored and the pupils much bigger, I see it's more the older version now and I gotta say I love that new one, although it's actually not really new and I just never consciously noticed?! heck shame on me xD I think what really makes the difference is those eyes together with these awesome and curled whiskers that I see quite rarely in your art as well, also the eyebrows are a little thinner and more subtle than usual, and altogether the proportions seem a little more balanced and just right, like the hair that is a little longer than what I'm used to seeing and finally those ears that look very different especially with those ear tufts! I think your style has undergone some changes, at least in this one. As someone actively watching your art develop I consider this is a big leap forward. I love the result. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="17" height="16" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="450" title="Star!"/>
Next up about vision I'd like to mention that awesome pose and anatomy that seems so dynamic and well done; heck I love that stretchy and liberating feel kinda, hehe, it makes me feel like the character was just taking some burden off their shoulders and is now contently looking back one last time. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/m/m… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="578" title="Meow :3"/>
Which is also what makes it quite original I guess? Aah as always I don't find anything to say about originality lol, I just love your art and I look at how things are done, but one thing maybe is that background (generally your simple backgrounds) that I find just down cool and creative and pretty original? It fits the character so well, and heck it's even my favourite colors - that pink and white it's creating a sugary and milky feel somehow haha, heck it's deservedly just a "sweet" drawing. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="453" title="Wink/Razz"/> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="357" title="Heart"/>
Onwards to technique, I've already mentioned those little differences and fresh nuances in your style that really captured my attention the most. What I realised during that time, and this is my first suggestion, is that the head seems overall a little too small! Like I said I absolutely love how balanced the face seems, the eyes are sized perfectly and neither too close nor too far away from each other, the face is shaped super nicely and soft, the ears are tiny but so lovely you would die to be able to touch those tufts (hehe) and finally I love that design! Yet if you zoom out in your browser (to 25%) you'll notice that the only problems are the head plus the neck as well, I feel it's a little too thin, follow the outline of the chest and I think you'll see that it would not connect with the neck? I'm not entirely sure and it may be a question of style, but I hope it might prove helpful? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
Also I noticed that hind paw in the front (the right one) is a little twisted, its position and direction doesn't seem natural to me if you follow the outline of the whole leg. It should face more towards the front I'd suggest.
Otherwise, I find your anatomy perfect, beautiful and just dynamic, especially that tail is so nicely long and I absolutely love that fluid shape of the chest! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/d/d… " width="21" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="574" title="I am a dummy!"/>
Oh, and I see the shading is done rather quickly, I would maybe note that it's a little too random on that white part of the chest, the fur doesn't really look convincing. Other than that I'ma praise those reddish highlights on the edges, it adds a super cool feel to your drawing, making the character fit the background even more. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="357" title="Heart"/>
Okay, now you sure know quite a lot about how this drawing impacted me so far, hehe. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l… " width="19" height="19" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="577" title="La la la la"/> I've rarely had such a "wtf what's this new feel" moment haha I'm curious to know whether you've intentionally worked on your style a bit and what you think of that muzzle? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/> Overall I love that milky feel of your background, that design and how it correlates with its colors, then I'll praise that dynamic pose and light expression, making it all feel easy and relaxed kinda!
An awesome drawing. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/m/m… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="578" title="Meow :3"/> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="357" title="Heart"/>

HERE YOU ARE AGAIN MURDERING ME WITH COMPLIMENTS AND ADVICE MY HEART CANT TAKE IT ILYSM ;;;;;;;;;;
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS
so truth is, ive been having massive struggles with my art style! even though i was happy with where it was, ive been feeling that i just havent been improving with it, and honestly it scared me enough to send me into an art crisis, haha ^^'
so that lead to this drawing!! i went "screw it, we're doing this differently" and you have,, no idea how relieved and happy i am to hear that it does feel new!!!
the muzzle and face differences came from taking what i usually do and doing something different, and it was actually really difficult to do?? but!! i am so so happy that you think its a step forward because thats exactly what i want!! hhhh i want to give you a hug righT NOW i feel so much more motivated to keep drawing new things thanks to you
lOL YES i did get lazy with the shading halfway through! i adore all the little details you find; on closer inspection the neck does seem too narrow,,, i didnt even notice it until you said it :'D
these critiques are exactly what every artist needs, im extremely honored that you take the time to write them dudE,,, know that i am still planning to draw you a gift for all the support you give ;;v;;
THANK YOU SO MUCHH <33

AWW HEHE I MEAN YOU DESERVE ALL OF THIS, NO DOUBTS ABOUT THAT, BUT PLEASE STAY ALIVE I WANT YOU TO LIVE AND CONTINUE BEING AN AWESOME ARTIST!
AAH it's super awesome to know that you appreciate it all, it motivates me as well to find the time for some critique now and then!
And haha you know I found it all really funny because I exactly imagined an answer like this, like I said in those first seconds of seeing your drawing I was really astonished and then while writing, when that surprise was gone, I was beginning to doubt if you'd really changed after all and that I'm really just wrong, but I continued trusting that first impression and now I'm really happy to know that in fact my beliefs were true and that it even motivated you, aah it's such an honor, you're super welcome it's a big pleasure as always!
AAh I'ma repeat it, you're doing great, I see must it have been difficult getting there but I can really tell you that you notice a difference and that you've put a lot of work into it!
AA and that you're even still planning a gift I mean that's so amazing; reading this made me all excited, YOU'RE JUST SUPER WELCOME!
