I took this shot during the last day of my summer holidays. It was a very rainy day and so I had to shot very fastly.The picture is a test to obtain a particular effect mixing flash light and natural light... I'm sorry for the little spots on the sky, I had a problem during the film development.

ho da poco preso un flash per la digitale, vorrei provare anche io a fare degli scatti mescolando luce naturale e luce artificiale. penso si possano ottenere degli effetti interessanti e drammatici, come quello che hai ottenuto qui. qualche consiglio che puoi darmi?

Certo! Il "trucco" e' quello di regolare il flash in maniera tale da avere un lampo sufficientemente potente da illuminare correttamente il soggetto in relazione alla sensibilita' nominale della pellicola (o del sensore) e sottoesporre con il tempo l'esposizione globale del fotogramma. Ricorda che una variazione del tempo non interferisce con la potenza del flash.
In questo caso, poi, ho cercato di enfatizzare ulteriormente l'effetto "drammatico" in camera oscura andando a bruciare i bordi dell'immagine e accentuando dunque la sottoesposizione dello sfondo. Ciao!

I haven't seen a picture that shows such a powerful ego before! The world is simply spinning around her!
From the circle she is centre of, to the lighter sky around her body/head, she's all self-confidence and honour. But definitely in a possitive way. A strong character, who keeps her personal theritory and freedom from invaders. Who knows her own qualities.
The pose and her expression increase this feeling much, without make her supercilious (which is a great achievment for itself 
And all of this in daily jeans and skirt!
The blown hair is very nice detail, it also creates some "master of the mountain" effect. The tones fits perfect. And the only think i don't like is that the picture is sooo small! 
Anyway, there are some weeks since i added something to my fav list and know i'm happy to do it again.
It's just a great photo.

I think the printing job is top notch, she's an amazing model and the expression you've captured is incredible, but the clothes(particularly shoes) aren't working at all. Still a wonderful intense shot. Great work.

I say your experiment came out great. The light spots in the sky are not noticable at all because she holds such a strong control over the photograph that you barely notice anything else. Lovely black and white. Well done.

Love the highlight primarily around her. She has a great look to her - serious but playful and sincere. She has a sense of style that really speaks in the photo. I really like the way you did the contrast - and the grain adds a lot to it. Out of 30 photos in my devwatch - this was by far the best one.

... in effetti hai ragione! L'idea era proprio quella: portare una luce simil-studio *fuori* dallo studio. Il tempo piovoso e il cielo cupo hanno poi contribuito a creare l'atmosfera giusta. Se ci fosse stata una luce naturale troppo forte e/o dura con il cielo senza nuvole, sicuramente la resa finale non sarebbe stata uguale. Grazie per il commento, ciao!
