A friend asked me if I could do a gift for a friend of theirs who was celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the start of their business. As they've helped my friend so much with their wedding preparation I was happy to do this for them.
As the wedding theme is the film 'Labyrinth', the best fantasy movie ever, I was right in my comfort zone with this project. Also the business is a bridal boutique so these two things really are a match made in fan art heaven so I thought a nice picture of Sarah in that iconic ball gown would be just the thing
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 9 colours.
Sarah's eyes were done with dark sepia, warm grey 1 and warm grey 4.
Her eyebrows were done with dark sepia and warm grey 4.
Her nose was done with white, dark sepia, warm grey 2 and warm grey 4.
Her mouth was done with dark sepia, warm grey 1, warm grey 3 and warm grey 4.
Her ear was done with dark sepia, warm grey 2 and warm grey 4.
Her earring was done with white and dark sepia.
Her face was done with white, warm grey 1, warm grey 2 and warm grey 4.
Her hair was done with warm grey 2, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
Her hair vines and decoration was done with white, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
Her neck and shoulders were done with white, warm grey 1, warm grey 2 and warm grey 4.
Her necklace was done with dark sepia, warm grey 1, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
Her ball gown was done with white, dark sepia, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
The dancer to the left was done with warm grey 1, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The dancer in the background was done with white, black, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
Finally, the background was done with white, black, warm grey 1, warm grey 3, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
