Description Just a fun little crossover sketch I did.  I was wondering what Houses the Magica girls would be it, and this is what I came up with:

First, Sayaka is quite obviously a Gryffindor.  She is brave (see: reckless) and believes whole-heartedly in a vision of justice.  She really, really wants to protect people and values courage very highly, but doesn't really think too hard before she jumps into battle.

Kyoko would also be a Gryffindor for several reasons.  She is reckless, brash, and has a certain disregard for the rules. She is something of a troublemaker, and despite claiming that she cares only about herself, she is more likely than anyone to pull someone out of danger without a second thought. She rarely thinks too much before entering a battle, and doesn't like other people to tell her what to do. And despite everything, she would be willing to die to save someone else.

Madoka is clearly a Hufflepuff.  She's sweet, gentle, kind, and hard-working.  Although not particularly smart, she does try very hard, and is determined to be there for her friends.  Loyalty is her strong point.  She will go to many lengths to take care of her friends, however, the driving factor for this is not bravery, but selflessness and loyalty.

I would place Mami in Ravenclaw.  Although in the anime you don't get to see much of it, Mami is extremely intelligent.  In the Other Story manga, she is shown to have compiled very detailed logs on the various witches she meets and is able to analyze a situation quickly and accurately, realizing the best way to take out an enemy based on her research.  She also makes use of her smarts to develop her magic into creating fully operational muskets.

Finally, I would place Homura in Slytherin.  The main reason for this is that Slytherins tend to be extremely loyal to those they call their own.  She's not quite smart enough to be a Ravenclaw (she messed up a simple math problem when she returned to school in episode 10), she's too untrusting to be a Hufflepuff, and she's not concerned with being a hero.  Only her own goals matter, and that goal is protecting Madoka.  Literally nothing and no one else matters to Homura.  She puts all of her energy into achieving this goal.  And as seen in Rebellion **SPOILERS** she is even willing to suppress Madoka's desires to achieve her own. **SPOILER END**

And although she's not in the picture (I forgot about her...), I think Nagisa would be a Hufflepuff.  I mean, we don't get too much of her personality figured out, but her main goal in life is eating cheese, apparently, so she's not ambitious enough to be a Slytherin, doesn't seem particularly brave enough to be a Gryffindor, and isn't obviously intelligent.  She is, however, rather sweet and loyal to Mami.

Just a nitpick. Homura only messed up the Math problem because she had not been in school all year (it was March so she missed all of September through February) in episode 10. Also episode 10 Homura (or moemura) is an entirely different creature but I agree with Slytherin given the Madoka reaosn and Rebellion. Also Madoka is in the mightiest of houses for only Hufflepuff can have the might badge as their sigil.

By the way, will Kyubey be appearing as the Dark Lord's minions? Maybe instigating Dementor attacks to arouse maximum despair in magical girls, so they'll turn into 'Puella Magi'-type witches super-quick?

Interesting, although I foresee problems when Homura's loyalty to Madoka, come in conflict with the loyalty the Slytherins demand from their own house members. It may not matter for the House Quidditch matches (Madoka's personality is too non-confrontational for her to make it matter), but when Voldemort or the next Dark Lord rises, and Homura is forced to choose between joining the Death Eaters or joining [insert parents' names here] in the afterlife...

I like the feathers you added to Mami's hat, although it may get her in trouble, due to school uniform regulations.

Hmm, well, there's nothing anywhere that says that Slytherins HAVE to become Death Eaters, in fact, there are probably more than a few Slytherins that never had anything really to do with Voldemort or that kind of thing.  Homura's loyalty will always be to Madoka first and foremost.  Nothing is standing in between her and Madoka.  I have a feeling the other Slytherins would figure out that she's not one to mess with or pressure very quickly, and mostly leave her alone.  Either that, or she'll become the next Dark Lord, which is highly likely considering her development in Rebellion.

And in response to your other comment, I hadn't really thought about Kyubey at all.  I would imagine in this AU there would be Puella Magi at all, it would simply be them as witches/wizards growing up at Hogwarts (or an equivalent Japanese wizarding school, I suppose).  I'm not planning on writing anything about the AU, so I hadn't thought too hard about how to integrate the stories; I was mostly interested in the Sorting.  Using Dementors is an interesting idea, though, one that I think Kyubey would use without a second thought.  I wonder if the Kiss would work on a Magi considering their souls have already been separated from their bodies....

Or alternatively, if I did completely integrate the two worlds and both of their magic systems, it could be possible that Dementors are Minions or even become Wraiths in the Madokaverse.  Like somehow the Ministry might know a little bit about Puella Magi and managed to trap a Witch for study, and the Dementors are her Minions?  I mean, J.K. Rowling never explained where Dementors come from, so it wouldn't be a stretch to make the connection if someone were to write a crossover.

Haha, yeah, the feathers.  I was trying to imitate her magical girl hat; I couldn't resist. XD

Slytherins don't have to become Death Eaters, but a lot of Death Eaters ARE Slytherins, and I imagine those that are will put a lot of pressure on fellow alumni and the alumni's children to join them in serving Voldemort.

As for Homura's loyalties, I agree with your views, but I imagine her classmates will suspect them anyways- with the obvious exception of Madoka, whose loyalty to her friends will be a saving grace- because of the problems mentioned above. If the Death Eaters, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, or Voldemort himself tries to force the issue... well, Homura's smart enough to use "The Indirect Approach" described in www.fanfiction.net/s/3355032/1….

Dementors will probably sense the girls' souls are in their soul gems, and try to bite the gems, the way Homura did in 'Rebellion'. I imagine the soul gems will make the girls highly resistant to the effects of a Dementor's aura, but "highly resistant" does not equal "immune."
