This is...my first ever commission...and I hate that I ruined it. The focus is supposed to be on the baby...meaning, the whole reason why she had me draw this for her was for her baby.And thats the part I ruined, please if you could tell me at all how I could fix it? To the mother/commissioner. I am willing to try again or try to draw the baby over if you would like me to, please give your honest critique of this.
This was a very special drawing for me to do and i was honered she chose me to try it. The baby, sadly, didn't survive the birth. I feel so sad for it...
I put alot of time and effort into this one, but i can't remember how many hours. I used a 6b pencil and a regular michanical pencil.

Well, you know? the only thing I would change of this wonderful piece is the face of the baby. It doesn't look like a child, maybe a curvier nose, bigger head and checkbones could give him the look of a baby.
The image by itself is beautiful and has a sensible touch that touched me deeply. When I saw it, I could imagine the mother singing to her son thinking he was just sleeping; it's beautiful and emotionally intense.

actuley thats my daughter. her name is honey-rose, the pics fantastic but i agree her head and nose in the drawing looks more like adult features than baby i think

Well, I know that babies are very difficult to draw, but surely it can be fixed with a little correction, I guess.
Though, after all perfection it can be reached, the expression is the hardest thing to get, and this work has pretty much of it, don't you think?

Yes, I plan to change the childs face, as the commissioner(the mother) wants me to as well. I just need to find the time and inspiration.

Mm, the one thing I'd say would be that you could make the outline of the baby a little less sharp, like, makes it more hinted at with shadow rather than shown with a dark line.
But as it is, it looks quite good and the shading is pretty well awesome and and... Yeah ^_^

I'm not a pro on drawing, but this picture has caught my eye. There's something sad and touching about it.. I wouldn't change it. It really shows that you've put your emotion in this piece!

i agree with ~Simply-Dreams that if the baby would be bigger, that would make the drawing better. the blanket texture is also a way to point out the baby and the baby's head outline also bugs me a bit, maybe if you made the background a bit darker and wouldn't make that dark outline. But i think that the drawing is great even like this, it's very adorable and not as bad as you think.

Well the baby itself is really small. You can't almost even see it except for the fact that the woman is holding something, so you have to look down at what she's holding. So I'd try and make the baby a little more bigger, more natural unless it was really small. Also some contrast between the baby and the blanket would be good. Maybe put in some more shadows and texture in the blanket.

Thanks for the advice, actually the baby was very small, though I should have probably made him a tad bit bigger. And the shading isn't very good, but the mother was extremely happy with it so this is growing on me,
