Description yuppers. We had to presubmit our designs this year for the annual downtown chalk art festival, and I'm super excited for how this design turned out. Also tried an overlay texture layer for the first time after a tip off from *makani Might change the background color behind the lemur when we do it in actual chalk, as it kind of makes parts of him look transparent, but ah well.

And would'ja look at that, they're not even 'characters' just 'animals' Though I must say I had *aureath in mind while doing the Oryx

I love the style to it! It's almost mirage-ish and I also love that it's for chalk. I think it'll be great. I like the color combination too, how it pulls at the eye, but keeps it wandering to the other squares. It's neat that you drew from different animal kingdoms, rather just keeping with one animal or similar animals in different colors, like an Andy Warhol. It's very unique and all yours. Thumbs up!

I love your design. I was wondering what chalk festival you entered it in. I'm a chalk artist myself and would love to find some new places to draw.

Cool! I'm glad you like it so much! Good to see you stopping by too. You had a pretty big (and expensive) impact on me recently, as I got the same camera you have because I really like the results you get with it.

I'm not sure if this has already been suggested, but I'll say it anyhoo, if it were me doing this, I would probably change the Lemurs shadows to reds and pinks (darker pinks a touch of purple maybe) and add yellow to the orange background, add a little extra tonal separation and the colours would probably give it even more vitality.

I've got to say, I had 112 deviations in my inbox tonight when I logged-on and this one stood out the most. Its utterly fantastic and if you say its cool, I'd love to be able to use it as my desktop wallpaper. Its beautiful, your seriously talented.

Thanks, I tried it, and it actually does look better, t'will definitely be using this hint on the actual chalk drawing.

And go ahead, I'd be flattered to have it grace your desktop!

Those are so awesome and unique...the color and style is just lovely. Do you plan on making these into ACEO/ATC's? If not, how much for the digital file (or print) so I can make the 4 for myself? I really think they lend well to the ATC format and I love them and would like them in my collection!

Starhorse In reply to WatergazerWolf [2006-06-02 00:43:26 +0000 UTC]

What's an ACEO/ATC? Whatever it is though, I'd probably be willing to work something out with you. Send me a note or somtehing

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WatergazerWolf In reply to Starhorse [2006-06-02 15:17:34 +0000 UTC]

An ATC/ACEO is an art trading card or art card edition original because some make prints of their art cards. There's tons of artists taking part in this new phenomenon although it hasn't really hit many anthro artists or those on DA yet. The rules are that the cards need to be 2.5X3.5" in size and no more, but anything else goes. Some artwork already created by artists can be converted into art cards fairly well, including this piece of yours broken into 4 ATCs. If you'd like to see some ATCs, check out EBAY, it's crazy full of hundreds of thousands of them. I've done a few myself in my gallery but sadly most are uncolored yet.
