Description If you follow me, perhaps you'll notice that I've posted this previously - but in quite a different version.

My style when I paint on canvas in real life and when I draw digitally are somewhat from two different worlds. I never really post any of my paintings in here for various reasons, but mainly due to the fact that I don't really recognize myself in my paintings.
However, playing around with style and trying to combine those two styles was a lot of fun, though really hard to do.
I was not sure whether to post the result or not, but I decided to do it. If you do have any constructive critique, feel free to comment. I'm especially interested in how you find the balance between colors and contrasts and the balance between calm and dynamic. If you have any further comments regarding composition, please share those as well

Wow!! It's lovely seeing this compared with the sketchy version! I love all of the different colours, makes me think of a peacock sort of, and the flowyness of the hair!

I like the values in this! It would definitely look good in black and white - it's not dependent on the color contrast, which is good^^
You have two light sources what I can see; from behind and one angled above/front. It's always good to have 2 light sources But with the light coming from behind, maybe it would look better if you paint where the light hit the hair or like a glow around the hair. Looking at photos, like this for example:
(very random I found on google hehe)
...it would look more attractive to the eye And the character will pop out more.

The colors are really good in my opinion so I have no comment on that^u^ Just go crazy with colors and add as many possible haha. Like, choosing one or two colors to have as the main theme and then less saturated ones for the shadows and the rest.

Composition is very good in this one. Having a circle in a center componed picture always works and it puts the attention on the character I like how the shoulder move, it looks very dynamic  Not to mention the flow of the hair which makes it look more interesting and alive! If a painting looks dead, then adding wind will definitely bring it to life

One thing I have noticed with your art, in both traditional and digital, is that you tend to draw the same faces (shapes, noses, eyes). It's called the "same face syndrome" and yes, it's an actual thing XD Many artists suffer from it... I think drawing lots of different face studies can cure that. Maybe challenge yourself and draw a male every now and then (shit, I need to do this as well XD).
Your art is really good and I think you have a lot of potential!  I hope my little critique helped >.< Even tho it's Monday and I'm really tired I hope some of it made sense haha XD

Thank you for your feedback - I will definetely take it to heart
About the lightning, I think I will try to implement your suggestion as soon as I have time to draw again

And regarding the same face syndrome, I think you are right. I already knew the term prior to your critique, but it's something I've been aware of for a while now that I have to work on.
And yes! I definetely need to draw some males - it is always on my "to-do list", but I never actually get around to doing it
Do you have any suggestions as to where I can find good ressources/references for practicing facial feautures?

And your critique made completely sense - it is really useful to me, so thank you a lot

I often use pinterest, but you need to search around for a while to get to those good photos that aren't too "photoshopped" and "ideal" faces and stuff. I've heard it's good to draw old people cuz they have so much wrinkles XD But idk. It's kinda fun cuz it's not supposed to look pretty so it's pretty easy to do a good sketch lol

I also use quickposes  , they have a library where u can find lots of photos that are free to draw + many variations of faces and angles + much more. I do think you need to make an account to be able to use the library, I don't remember XD

I'm glad to be of help

I actually tried to draw a couple of different pages (I found a website with a timer and a lot of pictures), and it was quite challenging at first, but also very rewarding in the end
What I learned from my little practice session is that faces consist of various shapes, and in order to avoid the same face syndrome, one must vary those shapes.
It was quite interesting - also, it's incredible how beautiful features people have and in so many different ways

Yes, it sure is rewarding! And very fast learning Doing that every now and then would definitely give one a better understanding on anatomy and stuff. It's just the time to do it that is the problem XD
