Description She comes from a neighboring star system, lives in a tower as high as the tower of Babel, and is the empress of the most vain glorious people. She is in the pinnacle of vain and of course her name is inspired by that - Veyn Gloria is the name of an exalted alien woman, whose appearance  is nothing but exaggerated.

Veyn Gloria - or Veyn as she is usually called - is a part of a novel called 'The Diary of a Space Traveller', which I'm writing. Amanda, whom I've showed you before, is the protagonist, and Veyn is sort of her sidekick that she meets early in the tale.
Veyn was design to kind of "mock" the stereotype of an alien. She is green, has wierd ears, and of course and extra set of arms. However, most of her "dazzling" appearance is artifical, but necessary in a culture, where a superior outer appearance equals social status.
The little planet that Veyn comes from is very old, and so is she and her people. Their exact ages are unknown, but they are known to be quite old. Even though the planet are quite fertile with lots of resources, it is dying - a black hole nearby is slowly pulling the planet towards it, which will be the end of Veyn and her people. Ironically, they continue their vain and superflous practices, as if nothing is happening.
Their culture is a product of their old age; having lived for so long, they've giving up finding a deeper meaning with life, and instead made appearance the goal of their existence.
Veyn is quite cold, cynical, and has a massive knowledge - especially about the earth. She is emotionally disengaged, and have a very logical and rational mindset as a result of that. She also seems to be very arrogant - she is in other words a perfect empress of a vain glorious people.

That's where Amanda comes into the story. But I'll save that for another time

I wanted Veyn to look a bit unnatural - hence the more manga-like style with the big, doll-like eyes. Don't get fooled by her appearance though - she's quite deadly.

I'm writing the story in my native language danish, but if I ever finish it, I might consider translating it to english. I'm not writing it in english on the first hand, since my grammar is not exactly flawless. And I also write much better in danish.

-------------------------------

I've been quite inactive the last month, but I want to show you that I'm working on a couple of projects. Here are two sneak peeks:
Pekia
Vella

Vella is another character from the same universe, which you can look forward to hearing much more about in one of my coming posts.

Her design looks really cool I adore these colors! The red and green, the purple and decorations of gold  Pekia and Vella also have such unique designs.

I would really like to read your novel if you finish it *-* Tho I might not understand spoken danish, I do understand quite a bit when reading. So if you never get to translate it, I'd be happy to read it anyway (if I may) ^^

I'm glad you like her design. I look forward to finishing the other two drawings as well
And of course. If I ever finish it, you can read it ^^
I feel the same way with swedish. It's so hard to understand (especially with dialects), but it's actually okay to read

Yay Hope it goes well with your novel! It's really time consuming and requires a lot of problem solving, but I think it's very fun to create your own universe and characters  (especially character design lol)

Haha well, even as a swedish person I have troubles understanding strong dialects (like how they speak in Skåne and Göteborg xD).

At this stage it's probably more in my head, than it is on paper. I have written two chapter, however, which is much more, than I've ever accomplished
I suffer from the same "syndrome" as many other artistic people - I have no trouble coming up with characters, a universe and a plot, but writing it is just too "scary", because you want the story to turn out perfect.
But nothing will ever come from not writing, at least that's what I'm  trying to tell myself. So yeah, you have to be a bit patient, if you want to read the story

Dialects can be a whole new language in an existing language, if you know what I mean

Yeah I know that feeling alright xD Too afraid to write anything! What works for me is to outline the whole story before even writing the first sentence. Tho I often end up rewriting all the chapters several times anyway(but these are pretty short novels which I never finished lol).
I'll be patient! It can takes years to create a good story ^^

A language in a language, it's exactly how it feels xD

I always get amazed how some people can write like that! But then I realize, that's how I do when painting xD Just having a general idea, search up some references and then create as I go along ^^ Guess it depends on ones skills of how to put things together.

Wow, now I feel inspired to be less organized and overly prepared when planning out my graphic novel! Maybe I should just leave the chapter outline as it is now and start writing the script instead. Let the smaller pieces come together as I progress. It doesn't have to be perfect... Thank you so much! Motivation on top after this little convo   (I feel like I'm making no sense at all haha)

Yeah, there's probably a balance between the two approaches. It's just to experiment and try what works best I guess

I'm just so in love with this design! The colours are spectacular! I can't wait to see the other two finished, as well!
