I sign everything I draw. Literally everything. 'Cause ya never know, right?
Yeah, public judgement can really suck sometimes. For example the newest thing in art is to be totally in with art so they do stuff like framed dresses which they hang on walls or such things. None can wear it and none will ever wear it. Everyone is asking things like "What does the designer want to tell us with this?". Or "how does this reflect our current time?".
I'm so annoyed by this. I design things because I think they look cool. I don't want to tell you anything with that. (Even though nothing is a message again which makes this all a huge Paradoxon but that's another story)
I hate how everything needs to have a deeper meaning to be relevant or accepted by society. And honestly, the most people in the fashion industry are total snobs. They think time stands still for them or whatever and they will always be the greatest. They think they are timeless. But timeless is a stupid word which doesn't make any sense. Nothing is timeless, everything has an expiration date. No matter how famous you are and how much money you got, one day, the world will be done with you. To say otherwise is not only an infinitely conceited arrogance but also a really sad case of self-delusion. I'm fine if I'm forgotten after I die. I'm totally okay with sitting in my rocking chair as an old lady and say : "Alright pals, I had my time. I've said what I had to say. I'm through with it. I'm outta here. Peace." And that will pretty much be that. I don't want to be remembered as a person, but more the as the changes and accomplishments I bring to... Whatever. It doesn't matter who I am, but what I do. And for what I do, I want to be remembered. Me as a person... Nah, I'm none special.
I hate the Fashion industry. For what it does to people. For how it judges everyone and everything. All those stupid rich fools on those fashion shows and dinner parties who think a dress made out of bread is art while millions of people on the world don't have enough to eat. Or that a collection of torn apart dresses with red paint on them would be a statement against rape. As if any of those people know how this feels like. If I would be a victim of rape, I probably would feel offended by that, because it doesn't help anyone. All it does is get the designer a headline in the Vogue and a ton of money. They always act like they point out problems of our world while they've never actually experienced any of them. They live in their own world, where everything is perfect and there is enough space for everyone to simulate his own "professional relevance" or whatever.
I don't want to be one of them. I want to become big in the fashion industry, yes, but not for money or fame, but for the power it gives me above it. I want to make things better. I wanted to change the industry. Or at least I want to try. I can't promise I will succeed. Actually my chances are probably very low. But I will try.
Huh, that was long. Sorry for this giant wall of text. All I actually wanted to say is:
The public opinion sucks.
So don't bother about that. Most of them don't even know what they are talking about.
I totally understand the pressure behinde that. And I'm sure your cats don't judge you. I think they watch you because they like you. I would like to have a cat myself, sadly I'm allergic.
Hope my brabbling doesn't bother you, but I felt the need to say things and I couldn't resist it.
