He's the mob boss. Β his little dees', high pitched calls, are warnings for other chickadees and other small birds that tell them what size, what kind , how far, how fast, and quite a bit of information about the threat, but he can also call the birds together to mob the predator, such as a hawk, where the birds all gather round and yell at the hawk to run him out of the area. I have seen this and that is a great pic!Β

Haha I think he may have been trying to do that! Him and his buddy didn't seem to mind us sitting around the tree! They definitely were, usually on nice days we get around 30 of them in our backyard when the bird feeder is full!Β
