This is a painting for my 2 year old niece. My sister asked me to do some paintings for her new "big girl" bedroom. I based the idea off of her new quilt. I tried to create a quilted/patchwork look by adding faux running stitches. I also tried to mimic some of the fabrics from her quilt. I plan on giving this to her for her birthday this weekend. This was done with acrylic paints on canvas.Please critique this for me. I feel something is a bit off and/or it needs something else.
**Update** After some critique I decided to give the center ring of the sun a thin wash of white to tone it down and did the same to the 2nd pink ring of the flower to match. I also added a 2nd wing and antennae to the butterfly. I think its done!

As somebody studying child psychology, the colors you chose are attention getting for young children while the design is just plain out fun and cute. The idea of basing it off a new quilt is beautiful. It does seem to look like a quilt as each part seems to carry over to the next.

I think this painting is amazing and I can't think of anything I would change about it.
I honestly think you did a fantastic job on the mock quilt idea, it truly looks just like a quilt.
The fact that this is a painting and not a digital is also amazing because you did such a good job on the details (from what I can see).
