Welcome to the Miracleverse! AKA, the Disliked Ships AU, but I don't use this as a platform for hate. While the universe is slightly... twisted, they are all options that could have happened in the main TFIMverse. They're a chance to do things with the... standard ships that people have, and using them in new ways, as well as a platform for interesting characters. I want to do some different things with the designs, so I may note the standard designs I tried to avoid with each design. These designs have been done for... an embarrassing amount of time, so expect a lot of the designs at once, I finally decided to upload them. But, since this is isn't anypony we've seen before, and not a child of anypony we've seen in the show, there's not much to say about what I did 'different', since he's his own pony. He's a side character to a lot of ponies, so his bio isn't exactly as long as others.
Well, you remember Generic Hearts , right? Well, um... meet his older twin brother; Bland. And remember how Gene is a soft boi who's trying his best?.. yeah, no, Bland's not like that. At all. He protecc. He atacc. And most importantly... no, honestly, that's about it. Really, he's not that complex a pony. He's a grumpy butt with a temper about as short as a breezie, and he's kind of a dick. But he does mean well... we think.
Honestly, no one can get a read on him, but Gene swears he's a good guy.. somewhere deep inside that turtleneck sweater. Probably. There's definitely a heart there somewhere, he's sure.
Gene and Bland's parents are both dead, though they never met their father, but their mother Butterfly Hearts was emotionally neglectful and abusive to them both before passing away; most ponies who know this tend to assume Bland took the brunt of it, and that's why he's such a dinglewad. But you never know. He doesn't like talking about their parents, really. Mom was a bitch, whatever. Moving on. Honestly, just stop talking to him.
When Gene opened up his business in Ponyville, he brought Bland with him, though both insist it was the other's idea to bring him to Ponyville. Bland says he was dragged along by Gene, and Gene says that Bland was worried about his little brother fending for himself all alone out there, but Bland would like to say that is ridiculous, stupid, and anypony who thinks that is very dumb. So obviously, everyone thinks Gene's right about that.
Bland is currently unemployed and lives in the second floor of Gene's apartment, though he sometimes acts as a faux secretary to Gene's therapy appointments, as he spends a lot of the time curled up by the only fireplace in the house, as he swears it's freezing all the time, including in the middle of summer. That fireplace is right near the door, so he usually invites the clients in... and by invite, I usually mean calls for his brother and is generally dismissive of them.
He also has issues treating Gene's patients seriously, or at least when it comes to sexuality and gender identity. He tends to refer to their clients with the most obvious physical appearance as their pronouns when he first meets them, no matter how she presents herself, though he swears it's because ponies need to stop making such a big deal about it and just... be the gender they want. Just do it. He doesn't get it.
He's trying, though. And he's getting better at calling her by her name; it's just that he wishes ponies would just stop making such a big deal. If she's a girl, why does he need to call her a boy in front of the rest of the ponies in the lobby? It's not that hard to just be yourself, is it? Ponies are stupid sometimes.
If he's supposed to call her a her, he shouldn't have to call her a him just because other ponies are in the room; he can't win for losing, he calls her a him, he's an asshole, he calls her a her and he's an asshole. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, DANGIT. It's not like she's genderfluid, at least that makes sense.
He's blunt, to the point, and doesn't understand nuances, not even the most basic ones, like 'maybe they're not ready to come out', and would rather go 'just come out and get it over with'. He'd rather jump to the final point rather than acknowledge the steps. Generally, the idea of context eludes him.
He also has problems with fiction, because it's clear that the ponies in the story need to just talk to one another and stop being so stupid. Some ponies have their assumptions that he might be autistic, but nothing's confirmed because he's not using his own brother as a therapist, and there's no other therapist in town.
He's kind of a dick but he's trying... and that's really a good summation of Bland in general.
