SO MUCH FRAGMENTING
Paint.net is amazing. Fragmenting is like my favorite tool now.
I loved doing this.

Mickey: *looks down* Uh... you saw that? I'm really sorry... I didn't mean to turn Duncan into a potted plant
Jay: *big brother mode activated and smiles reassuringly* No, it's ok, Mickey. Madame Pomfrey fixed him, and Professor Aden wasn't there for that, he didn't see. *not entirely believing himself* And it'll... It'll probably not happen again... probably...
Mickey: *nervously* I'm pretty sure it will.
Jay: *clearly thinking that Mickey's right, but doesn't say it* It'll be fine. We've gotten through worse, right?
Mickey: *weak smile, not really feeling it* Yeah.....
(The potted plant incident is a bit infamous.... For obvious reasons. But it took place in the Gryffindor Common Room, so it's mostly word of mouth (which might not help the veracity of the story considering the Gryffindor's) well, word of mouth and that Madame Pomfrey probably got cranky about being handed a bright green fern in a black and tan pot and being told 'this used to be a student, please fix this. McGonagall will help', because to be fair, that's not something that happens every day.)

*both look a little confused*
Jay:... You have?
Mickey: It's not that it's weird, I just don't want to hurt anyone...
Jay: And I don't want him to get hurt.
Mickey: Um.... thanks for not getting... um... scared... Lots of people look at me funny.
Jay: *you can see the protectiveness in his eyes and he positions himself slightly closer to Mickey as a barrier*
(It's not that he dislikes Aden or thinks Mickey's going to go off, he just instinctively views everything as a possible threat, because pretty much everything IS when it's them.)

Mickey: *once again, both of them look dumbfounded* I just.... I thought you'd be at least be wary... Everyone tends to treat me like a ticking time bomb... *sad sigh* They're probably right.
Jay: You're doing better now, and that's the best we can do, right?
Mickey:.... Uh.... Professor? I was just wondering why you're not treating me different...
(Everyone does have a tendency to treat him that way, to be honest. Not necessarily scared of Mickey (it's hard to be scared of him), but definitely scared of his suppressed power, and everyone treats him like if they say the wrong words or talk to him that they'll trigger the overload, even if only happens when he's frightened. Even the other teachers, at least a little. It is a bit understandable, though. Turning a person into an inanimate object takes immense magical power, and standing in the blast radius could be dangerous.)

Jay: *pulls Mickey closer to him slightly and looks very wary of Aden* You're not going to hurt us, are you?
Mickey: He's a teacher, he won't hurt us....
Jay: The Headmaster would... And we get hurt really, really easy.
Mickey: *looks like he's expecting fate to drop an anvil on them* Yeah....
(At least Dave is getting karma punched. Fate just hates them. Add that to the list of things they need help with. On the ride on the lake before they even got to the school, their boat overturned. They're pretty much cursed, like Mickey said. Well, whatever comes before cursed, anyway.)

Mickey: That sounds nice..... um.... *nervously twiddles fingers*
Jay: *steps in since Mickey is too shy to talk* We were told that you could help Mickey... Well, help us... Sir...
Mickey: *meekly* They want me to learn how to control... you know... *sigh*
Jay: And they said that learning how to use his wand better could help...
(Seems like everyone just makes Aden their solution to every problem XD.)

Mickey: That sounds.... like it might work?... I don't want to hurt anyone or anything... or have them hurt me. That happens... a lot. *sigh*
Jay: And we can probably tough it out... you know, maybe... * pause* Definitely.
Mickey: *looks down* Yeah, sure...
Jay: So... What do you want to do, Sir? Is it going to be dangerous?
(To be fair, Aden did put his foot in the door by actively sticking his noes in everyone's business and helping them XD)

Jay: *immediately pulls Mickey closer to him, and Mickey doesn't seem like the idea either* I... uh... That sounds pretty dangerous, actually. Really dangerous.
Mickey: And everyone here tells me not to take the helmet off, ever... And.. It kind of hurts. Most things hurt us...
Jay: And I don't want to leave Mickey alone in a room without me there. And Mickey kind of transfigured things when he's overloaded, and they get... weird....
Mickey: I don't want to break anything... including myself... Or turn a person into a houseplant... Again.

Mickey: I really don't want to end up in the infirmary again. Either of us. I don't think she likes us.
Jay: *shudders* Why do the owls hate me?
Mickey:.. It... probably didn't help when I turned Duncan into a houseplant...
(They rival Tyler in time spent in the infirmary. Life hates them. At least Tyler brings it on himself with idiotic stunts and not some kind of double snake eyes they rolled with fate.)

Mickey: *gulps* Ok... I'm.... I'm going to take it off.....
Jay: *backs up* This is going to go wrong, I know it....
Mickey: *unhooks the straps to his helmet, and his eyes suddenly start glowing bright white, no pupils or eyes showing, just two bright beams of light*
Jay: *holding himself back from running or helping his brother*
Mickey: *he seems to be crying, but the blinding light is preventing them from being seen, eyes twitching and body convulsing from the arcs of magical light zapping his own body, clearly in pain*
Jay: ..., Please can we do something, please? I... I don't want him to get hurt, and I'm really worried that he'll destroy the helmet... He needs it, we don't have another!

Aden: I can save the helmet, but unless we wanna be struck by raw magic, it'd be trick to get near him! {looks mildly fascinated} Haven't seen that much power in years! {opens door slightly and Accio's the helmet} Umm... Petrificus Totalus? {spell bounces off a bolt and proceeds to do the same against the walls... until it flew out into the hall} ROGUE FULL BODY-BIND! GET DOWN!

Jay: *immediately ducks from the bolt and does as Aden says, the binding spell just barely missing him, it passes overhead and into the hall* I knew this was going to go wrong! I'm sorry, I should have warned you! We have really, really, really bad luck!
Mickey: *the lightning arcing around him turns bright blue and it arcs through the open door, zapping a nearby object and transforming it into jar of sharp, rather knifelike pencils*
(Pencils and Mickey have had a rocky relationship. Well, pointy, more like. And of course, just under cursed. I'd prescribe Felix Felicis, but they're probably allergic to it. I'm sure, however, Aden's heard people say they've got worse luck than someone saying 'nothing could go wrong' two hundred times, but you kinda don't know bad luck firsthand unless you've actually seen it in action.)
