Description
Once upon a time there was a pony named Twilight Sparke who became an alicorn princess thanks to the magic of friendship. Yeah, I know a lot of people don't like the Twilicorn, but really, it is just Twilight with wings. I don't think we need to worry about her suddenly deciding to abandon the same ideals that led to complete Starswirl's spell, so she will just remain as Twilight Sparkle with a new title and fancy wings.Okay, now that I have that out of the way, this is based on the Season 3 finale right before the episode ended when Twilight flew out of Canterlot. I had to pull a few scenes together to get the crown, eyes, and body all to look right.

Not bad for a first-time flyer in season 3, end of the season or not. Too bad it didn't stick in season 4, for awhile anyway.

I can see why the transformation took a while:Β The flight infrastucture had to grow in:Β Her heart becoming bigger to pump extra oxygen and blood to the wings, the bones growing in, the blood veins and nerves connecting to her heart and brain,Β the flight muscles coming in and finally all the feathers growing in.Β And her heart changed to extract more oxygen when she breathes.Β

I think the reason she did such a great job of flying her first time is a bit of beginers luck.

It also might beΒ an instinctive thing and she wasn't thinking about how to do it that time so she could but in EQG she was thinking about the movements so she did them wrong.

Yeah, they probably should have had more hints about it or something. Though with the shortened season I can't say I'm that surprised that they would have to make it so sudden. I really just hope that they make it an important plot element in the next season.

I think it depends on how much Hasbro intervenes. The show's writers are great at what they do when they are allowed to do it themselves.

Actually, I think that's a source of a lot of the anger.Β So much pomp and hype for a gimmick.Β And personally, I much preferred Twilight's old appearance anyway.Β Looked much more down-to-earth and likable.

I can see why people wouldn't like that, at least so far we have no good reason why Celestia would give her the resources to become an alicorn or a princess. I also just don't see what they could really mess up with it. I would disagree with some of that last point though. Twilight was already known for being in close relation with the princesses and her magical prowess so I think that, in the canonical show at least, her interactions will remain fairly similar. However, when she leaves the ponies who know her well to go to places like Canterlot I can see some of them treating her differently, but that is mostly just the ponies trying to get close to nobility.
I thought most of the anger was coming from people deciding that she would suddenly change how she acted because of it, but as the same point I have more on the outskirts of this discussion since I was one of the people who have been a fan of the twilicorn since it was just an uncommon bit of fanfiction/art. Either way, everyone is entitled to their opinions so there really is no right or wrong answer here.

Oh no, I agree with you that she probably won't act much differently before.Β My comment about "down to earth" was just about the visual design.Β I preferred the idea of what made her special was something that wasn't readily visible.
But although I dislike the idea, I bear you no ill will for liking it.

Yeah, I realized after I said all of that just how much I was over thinking it...I need to keep the line between reality and ponies a bit more defined when thinking about peoples' reaction to the show. It turns out we aren't actually in the show XD
