Chapter 6

     I set the note aside. ‘I will question it later’ I decided and turned my attention to the packages. They looked rather suspicious and not like birthday presents at all.
“You may open them now...” Abigail said politely.
“The Master would like to know your reactions.” Alastair added. I nodded and opened the big present first. I carefully lifted the contents of box out. I stood up and a very beautiful dress unfolded. It was just the right length, as I am quite tall for a seventeen year old. I stand at five feet eleven inches.

     The dress was black and very elegant. It had a deep red sash and ribbons that decorated the bottom. I held the dress up and began twirling around. As I was twirling something caught my attention and I stopped. I looked in the big box again and found a pair of deep red shoes (the same colour red as on the dress). ‘They are so beautiful.’ I thought; excitement gleaming in my eyes.

     “Why don’t you try the dress and shoes on, Star?” Abigail asked. I nodded in agreement. I grabbed the shoes and ran up the stairs. I undressed, throwing my clothes on the floor, and put the beautiful dress and the matching shoes on.

     The shoes had high-heels which made me at least six foot tall. ‘I like these shoes... I might be as tall as Tom.’ I thought, but then I heard him laughing downstairs. ‘Maybe not...’ I thought doubtfully. I un-done my French plaits so my hair flowed down my back in long waves.

     I began to walk downstairs. Once at the bottom, I checked the mirror. An emerald-eyed, wavy dark haired young lady was looking back. She was wearing a beautiful dress and matching shoes. I smiled as I realised that this beautiful lady was me.

     My eyes gleamed with excitement again as I walked into the kitchen, with an amazingly wide smile across my face.
“Wow!” Tom said as he stood up and gave me a hug. He kissed my head and stood behind me with his long arm draped around me. ‘Damn...he’s still taller than me!’ I thought as a frown invaded my face.
“It’s okay... I’m just freakishly tall!” Tom reassured me with a laugh. I couldn’t help smiling at him.

     At that moment Sky stood up and took my hand. She pulled me away from Tom and into a hug. I hugged back and kissed my sister’s head.
“You look truly stunning!” Sky whispered. Tears welled up in my eyes. I was so happy. Everyone became alarmed. Alastair, Abigail and Tom crowded around me.
“Don’t you like it?” Alastair worriedly asked.
“I told The Master he should have got the pink one...” Abigail grumbled to herself.
“But you look truly beautiful...” Tom said also worriedly.
“Haven’t you BUMS, realised that the reason she’s crying is because she’s so happy?!” Sky said rather loudly and angrily. She hates people worrying over nothing.
“Star, are you truly okay?” Tom asked the worry still clear in his tone. ‘Yes... I’m just really happy... No-one has ever done anything like this for me.’ I thought, explaining the tears. Tom wiped the tears off my face and reassured everyone.

     Sky began to mumble angrily to herself. I pulled away from my sister and grabbed the small gift on the table. I opened it and gasped in amazement. In the small box was a gold bracelet encrusted with rubies, which were in the shape of stars. It was certainly beautiful. I slipped the bracelet on, however within minutes my vision blurred. The room began to spin around me and everyone came into view. I felt Tom’s arms around me before there was nothing but darkness...
