Chapter 8

     My teeth sunk into his throat. The blood dripped down his neck and my chin. I drank the blood as if a sudden thirst had been awoken. The blood trickled down my throat, tranquillising a fire that had erupted when the taste of blood had touched my lips. The fire finally died out and I loosened the grip around Alastair’s neck, he fell to the floor and I backed away.

     I looked up at Tom. I saw my reflection in his eyes. My once gentle green eyes had turned to a menacing red. I blinked furiously trying to wash the red away, but when I looked at my reflection, the red remained. I turned and ran out the kitchen; up the stairs and into my room; locking the door behind me. ‘What have I done? What have I become? I hope Alastair is okay...’ My mind was muddled and unclear. I couldn’t make sense of today’s events nor could I guess what tomorrow shall hold.

     I sat on the floor in the corner pondering over what I should do next. I was angry and upset with myself. The more I thought about what I had done, the more upset I became and the more tears that ran down my cheeks. I became disgusted with my behaviour and began to hate myself. The worst thing was that I enjoyed ‘sucking Alastair’s blood’! The taste was unique and like no other. The sound that was made when I drank the blood rand in my ears, I couldn’t forget. After what seemed hours loud thumps banged on my bedroom door.
“STAR!” Yelled Tom from the other side of the door.
“Come on... open the door... I want to talk to you.” Tom pleaded. ‘NO!’ I shouted in my head.
“I’ll just break down the door...” Tom threatened. ‘Don’t you da-’ I began to think however my brain wave was interrupted, when my door went flying half way across the room. ‘Was that necessary?’ I asked in my head.
“You wouldn’t open the door... anyway... about what happened downstairs. No-one’s mad at you. We all understand.” Tom reassured me. ‘Well... I don’t... What am I?’ I thought; fresh tears running down my cheeks.
“You’re a... vampire... it’s very rare but you’re a pure-blood.” Tom explained. It made sense now.

     Downstairs my vampire instincts were awakened, along with a thirst for blood. ‘What about Alastair? Is he alright?’ I thought worriedly.
“He’s a little drowsy but fine. You didn’t kill him. Well done!” Tom replied as he walked across the room and helped me up. Once on my feet Tom pulled me into a huge hug as if congratulating me. ‘Wait a second, why did you say “well done” as if I did a good thing?’ I questioned Tom in my head.
“You see... Not many vampires can stay ‘human’ for almost eighteen years, and usually vampires that wait ages before their first feed, kill their first prey. That’s why I said ‘well done’. Hey, are you still thirsty?” He asked pulling away from me.

     He unbuttoned his shirt and took it off. ‘OH MY GOD!!!!! YOU ARE SOOOOOOO HOT!!!!!’ I thought absentmindedly. I was almost dribbling. Tom sat on the bed and patted his lap. I sat on Tom obediently and he said,
“Bite me!” I was horrified. Why would I want to bite Tom? Just then my throat set on fire. I could hear his blood circling his body. ‘I don’t want to...’ I complained. Alastair was different. I didn’t mean to. I just got really angry and I awoke the beast inside.

     “Bite me!” Tom repeated. He turned his head to the side so I could see his neck. I could feel his pulse. Tom was healthy and very fit. His blood would be warm and tasty. I leaned my head towards his neck, until my lips touched him. ‘Are you sure?’ I thought.
“Bite me!” Tom repeated; a little harsher than before. I opened my lips so my fangs touched his skin...
