You need a blue pencil. Really, it can be any color that won't overpower your led pencil. I use the different colored pencil to map out what I am going to do. I sometimes go through several renditions before putting on the led. That mouth is pretty spifftastic too. I think what is happening though is that you're not taking enough pre planning time before you start finalizing.

well, yes, actually. You use the colored pencil to do all the planning, then get rid of it later. No one knows either! If you look at any of my pieces done in pencil, there's a hidden blue pencil beneath it. My professors hate that we use mechanical pencil, but I think it works best for the stylized pieces. My blue pencil is actually a mechanical pencil (I hate sharpening).

I don't know that you can buy a mechanical pencil with the blue led already in there, but I just bought a canister of blue led for .5 mechanical pencil. I don't know that they make any other size, and I can only find it at my school's store and a couple of art stores.
