Description
An illustration for the russian fanfic "Everything in the name of the crown" by Lorenciano.(ficbook.net/readfic/4050819 )
When the time to elect a new queen comes for the Changeling Kingdom, young Chrysalis becomes one of the main candidates. But to succeed and claim the throne, Chrysalis needs to pass an exam - penetrate into the very heart of Canterlot under the disguise of little Twilight Sparkle and literally steal the crown of princess Celestia herself.
Made for MLP fanfic's miscellany "Equestrian stories 2017".

This fits very well with that old saying, "The head is heavy that wears the crown," so no wonder Princess Celestia looks so exhausted as she slumps over on her pillow for a little nap.
With even her usually lively mane settling into streams around her and her tail pooled up it really shows how zonked she really is; her face also shows a hint of discontent as work thoughts still swim through her mind. Still, that makes it even more lovely that she made a point to cuddle up with a wing over her most-faithful student as she dozed off. The young filly is really pretty too, and especially cute as her big eyes stare in wonder at the symbol of all these heavy thoughts her teacher must bear.
Gorgeous work on the ponies, and the background and objects, textures and depth, are all fantastic too. Nice to see the little things, like the cute symbols in the history book an the chess pieces left out after the recent checkmate. Also, maybe I'm reading way too much into it, but from what I suspect about the story it's interesting to see her crown from this view. Great effects and excellent use of lighting for mood (sleepy ponies versus spotlighted object of wonder). Thanks for sharing more of this beautiful world and touching story.
BTW, do you have a separate Tumblr blog for your pony work? Since you already have a blog I don't want to use the Share button here… but this scene deserves even more love.
