Description
Day 45/100 - I tried an entirely new and not yet tried printmaking method, drypoint etching! in total I made 6 artist proofs (meaning testers) of this plate based on 3 line sketches. This is the fourth drypoint. I explain the method below.
What that is, is drawing with a sharp etching needle (essentially scratching) onto a pvc/acrylic/polycarbonate or some other kind of plastic sheet. The plate is then covered with ink followed by gently wiping excess ink away. Paper that has been soaked in water and then and dried off is placed the plate. This then runs through a press. The pressure of the press pushes the now softened paper into the grooves of the etched plate, where the ink is. The design is then transferred onto the paper, and the process can be repeated until the burrs of the plate wear out.
