u'raijah and his wife were looking to purchase new labor for their lands. the practice disgusted him now. the non gifted treated this way solely for not being born with the abilities to control their reserve. then a young girl caught his eye. she was standing in a grouping next to an older woman, he assumed was her mother. there was nothing obviously different or special about the scrawny girl. average build, unkempt but no more than any of the others. then he felt it. she shouldn't be there. she had no eco reserve. every living being had some sort of eco life force regardless of their ability to wield it. he looked harder with new eyes. no, it wasn't that to was small there was nothing. then he saw it. the thinnest tiniest of tendrils of ether connecting to people around her. she was unknowingly living off others reserves to keep her alive.
"fascinating" he said and walked over to their owner
he bought the entire auction but kept the girl ,gr'aciah,and her mother in their castle to keep close. after awhile he taught her to read and write then made her his personal Lea's a on. he noticed that if she was away from others too long she would quickly become weak and sluggish. he asked her if this happened often "a lot" she just said.
with his new abilities he crafted a makeshift reserve for her out of hoarded ether that she could wear on her person and he taught her to refill using her natural ability. she instantly became more lively and even found her way to climb to the training tower to watch u'raijah training his young students. she would watch and try to mimic what they did. u'raijah took notice and tried teaching her at night. he showed her his great library he retrieved from the wolf planet. gr'aciah spent weeks in there reading and learning all of the old techniques and theory's and quickly became quite good at using her ability to manipulate eco like a gifted. she soon started participating in the training with the students a kept up with them pretty well. she was becoming one of the stronger students. during the days she would follow U'raijah as his secretary and listen in and take notes on his various meetings and interactions it made other uncomfortable but "what harm could a non gifted do?"
it wasn't part of his plan but this girl could really become his trump card if he needed her to be.
