Description Aquila Marin and her big kitten Leo Aiolia - ink outline with GIMP coloration.

Another cute couple in my fanfics is Aquila Marin and Leo Aiolia. Again I have to thank EmberPrairie from Newbornankhstudios.tk who patiently helped me during the drawing process and gave me valuable input and criticism until the pic looked way better than I would have achieved on my own.

When I was a kid I always wished I was Aiolia: cool powers, cool romantic interest...but I don't know about getting dumped in Cocytos!!

True. Well, when I was a kid I wanted to be a member of the Orion crew (a German SF series: [link] ) ^^

Hehehe! that Orion Crew thing sounds fantastic! you`re really getting me into this whole 60`s/70`s Space Opera thing! I`m already working on a piece influence by your droids

Heh. Coolness! Well, I'm an old school space opera fan, I guess. I love all the Golden Age SF from the great writers like E.E."Doc" Smith and Edmond Hamilton - these guys might read cheesy by our standards now, but in fact they were the ones who created the genre and all that stuff that only gets reiterated nowadays. ^^

Hmmm...I could still check them out. I probably can get these authors from the library, but at the moment I'm a library outlaw!! (I owe them some books/cash).

You are a naughtly, naughty guy! But yeah, they should be available there - good old Golden Age space opera is usually not exactly politically correct, it has real heroes that are usually a bit over life-size etc.

I like reading that for entertainment better than those much too often emoing-around "heroes" of contemporary books. I guess that's why I like shounen anime better than shoujo anime, too.

Well, more stupid than naughty, when I go back they will slap me with a fine!

I will definitely look out for those. Is there anythine else you could recommend me?

Well, definitely the Lensmen series by E.E. "Doc" Smith and by Edmon Hamilton "The Star Kings" and actually of of his other stuff, too. (I'm a big Hamilton fan ). Actually, the series Captain Future was really cool, even though (or maybe because?) it was targeted at a teenage audience. There is even an anime about Captain Future that was aired 1978.

Capitain Future!! I grew up on that! they used to air it when I was a kid. Also Robotech, I get very nostalgic when I think of all that retro Anime.

Thanks for the tips on the books...that one Star Kings sounds very interesting (I know I should never judge a book by its title!!)

Well, in Star Kings I even found names of one or two Captain Future characters. I really liked the novel - it also has a sequel, I think "Return to the Stars" (I read them in German and I'm only sure about the English title of the Star Kings).

Hmmm, interesting! I went to the library to face my fate, but they didn`t have the book! I gotta request it...

Thanks for the tip! I`ll keep searching!

Please keep recommending me stuff! I`m still haunted by that short story you told me about last January (The Farm).

Take care and enjoy your sunday

Well, then you should definitely look for a short story by Edmond Hamilton which is called "Exile". Actually he wrote some other shorts that are also memorable, even though not as disturbing than the one by Anthony.

Oh, and if you want to read a really funny SF story, you should hunt for "Allamagoosa" by Eric Frank Russell.

I will look out for them online! I love the short story format - just because of my short attention span...recently I like things short and sweet
Thanks for the advice!

Many of the old Golden Age SF stories were in short story format, so I guess you should be able to find quite some entertaining pieces.
