This game is one of my all time favorite games. So here's a piece of the hero, trying to look studly and not be overshadowed by the awesomeness of Magus... who isn't in this drawing as you can see.FYI: This picture is featured in a 15th Anniversary slideshow on youtube along with some fabulous CT art by other talented individuals. I have yet to find a word adequate to describe what you refer to as his 'awesomeness' for he is far more than merely 'awesome'. Language fails to live up to his greatness (also an inadequate term, but it's the best I can come up with at the moment....) Ironic that I read your description just as the remix of the song 'Battle with Magus' I have downloaded on my computer.....and just as I type this sentence the original version from the game soundtrack is playing..... I've never even considered killing him when I play the game. Can't even manage to comprehend why anyone would want to...... He's just that COOL (yet another inadequate statement....) *twitch* And don't even get me started on some OTHER Squaresoft characters I practically worship.......

Hahah, I'm such a baby too, I never could off Magus, even though I wanted to see Frog's ending where he turns human again. Just couldn't do it.
Sadly, Magus has his own rule on the list of RPG Cliches :
Law of NPC Relativity (Magus Rule)
Characters can accomplish superhuman physical feats, defeat enemies with one hand tied behind their back and use incredible abilities -- until they join your party and you can control them. Then these wonderful powers all vanish, along with most of their hit points.
But whatever, he's still cool to keep around and fight as.

I definitely agree with Prospectkiss--you've taken the character design and infused it with your own art style, which is super-cool. Crono looks a little bit flat, but he's still pretty solid-looking, and that's some nice subtle foreshortening on his sword. and the tree is top-caliber! I like how your lineart gives everything a slightly gritty, rough texture...overall, quite good.

Thanks for your comment!! A general rule is that markers do not scan well which led to the flatness of the piece. All the shadows disappear or become so subtle. Next time I shall just use very dramatic contrast for shadows.

yeah, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to markers...I do all my coloring in photoshop. I imagine they bring their own unique set of challenges to the table, and it seems you've done a solid job of working with the medium in this piece.

Like the commentor above, I love how you've rendered Crono: strong, confident, but not overly muscle-y. The expression on his face is wonderful. I love how you did the tree - so twisty and climbable.
Somehow, even though you've done this work in your own style, I feel that you've remained true to the spirit of the official character artwork: character in a strong and center pose, accompanying background piece, and little else. Great job!

Ahhh yes, my dear sweet Crono.
This is, by far, my favorite game ever. Secret of Mana, my second, will never come close. It was the only game I loved enough to get my characters to level 99. *heart*

MAGUS! Magus is my bitch. But Crono is cool too. I love the BG. Very nice. It's the tree where all the girls try and molest Crono when he comes back. o_o

Everyone needs their own bitch! Magus' attacks were the best. And how awesome is any dude who fights with a scythe?! That and... he's cool enough to make the underoos-over-the-pants look appear so badass!!! Not everyone can make it look good. XD

Ozzy, Slash and Flea. xD Flea's such a transvestite. In Chrono Cross you fight them, too. It's so cool. xD And Magus is the rock king overlord.
