Sehr cool, gefΓ€llt mir!

One of the coolest things I've seen in quite some time. Bravo! How'd you get the glowy light electricness?

Steam-HeART In reply to dontforgetyourtowel [2011-06-24 18:27:28 +0000 UTC]

For the time-indicator and the ignition-button (green) I used regular LEDs which I soldered together to turn them on with a single switch. The plasma-disc (lightning-thingy) should be available over the internet in different sizes and colours - I just made the iris-covering for it.

thanks. i'm looking to make something similar(ish) and have been looking into how people make the things they do. is it battery powered?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Steam-HeART In reply to dontforgetyourtowel [2011-07-05 09:19:21 +0000 UTC]

As I wanted to place it in the statue's "box" I needed it to be battery-powerd (which comes with limitation of size). The largest battery-powered versions of the plasma disc I found were about 7cm in diameter. All the larger versions (up to 40cm in diameter!) are socket-cord-powered [Sorry, I don't know how you call that in english... I hope you know what I ment - the opposit of battery-powered ].
