Description Steampunk "Strange" Detector Bracer available on Etsy: [link]

Here is a new design from Tinkerton Scientific to make even the Madder brothers jealous. The "Strange" detector uses glim and steam to power it's workings to discern both the presence and possible source of supernatural activity. Know what your up against before they even know your coming. A must have for monster hunters or adventurers in the weird west.

The "Strange" detector bracer is inspired by the Age of Steam books by Devon Monk (book 2 out in July 2012). It has a read-out gauge set inside a wooden and brass panel, and is color coded to show different supernatural sources (non-functional). The 3 LED's are powered by 2 AAA batteries concealed in the leather pocket under the gauge. The red and blinking red LED's are inside glass vials covered with a spring to disguise them, and the Green LED is hidden behind the glass vile of liquid "glim" to give it it's glowing property. They are connected to a toggle switch near the gauge to turn them on and off. The leather is 7oz veg tan leather that has been stamped with clockwork impressions and finished in an antiqued brown. Bracer is about 8" long, and straps will fit most arms sizes (wrist from 6.5" to 8") with room for more adjustment holes. Extra strap leather can be trimmed by the buyer after final fitting is done.

You can watch a 4 part video series on YouTube showing the bracer being built from conception to finished product. Steampunk Design Demo by Steampunked Out (part 1-4): [link]

This is a special edition piece, and is much more complicated and details than the standard LED Bracers designs sold on my retail website.

Looks like a steampunk version of the "I Come In Peace" gauntlet. With the hydraulic syringe.

Psh, if it was just for "strangeness" then it'd be going nonstop.

LOL...For those who haven't read the book Dead Iron, folks in the frontier refer to supernatural creatures and occurrences, the metaphysical, or occult as "the strange".

Cool beans. I'm strange, but not in that way. XD
Actually, there's a game called Echo Bazaar: Fallen London talks about glim... though different context.
