Description A quiet but slightly cloudy day near The Horseshoe along the Misty Mountain Line is interrupted by the sound of "The Evergreen Beaver", aka EGRR 3254, puffing around the bend towards the camera. She is taking a passenger consist from Starwood Ranch to Marceline with some of the coaches she sometimes hauls on passenger runs. Usually 3254 is assigned to freight hauling duties but there are times that she takes care of passenger trains, either in regular passenger work on commuter train duties.

Game used: Trainz: A New Era.

An order of (56) 2-8-2 Mikados, designated as 'S-1b' was constructed by the Canadian Locomotive Company for the Canadian Government Railways between 1917 and 1918.
Although not exactly large mikados by their size, but their great boilers operated at 180 psi, 63 inch driving wheels, a maximum speed of 60 mph, and 53,115 Ibs of tractive effort had combined to create the 'S-1b's very versatile locomotives.
Due to the grueling sub-zero weather conditions they operated in, the 'S-1b's had All-Weather Enclosed cabs.
Even their tenders had extended coal bunkers; bringing total capacities to 17 tons of coal and 7800 gallons of water.
In 1918, they soon absorbed the Canadian National Railway.
All but three were eventually retired in 1958 on account of diesel acquisition.
Today only (1) of the (56) 'S-1b's remains while its (2) 'S-1' sisters also survive.
Locomotive #3254 was also built by the Canadian Locomotive Co. in 1917.
It remained on display at the Ashland motel in Pennsylvania by the owner Willis F. Barron before it was sold to the Gettysburg Railroad until 1987 when it was again sold
to Steamtown for restoration so it could haul tourist trains back and forth until 2012 marked its end in operating condition.
