Famous Japanese television personality Jack Ryderu was a television personality working for the biggest television channel in Japan. For one of his famous skits he had fished out an Oni mask for a jumpscare and upon affixing it to his face unleashed Kuripa or The Creeper into his body as a host. It liked to come out at night so he simply adjusted his work schedule around to maintain a morning personality host while trying to get rid of it. The company thought it best to switch him to a nighttime host with due promotion but he explained he could not accomodate that option just yet. They seemed really intent on him making the transition so he decided to seek out an option to remove his affiction.
Coming overseas to America he heard of a demon whisperer known as Eclipso who could help him. Desperate to get his job back he went to him. Seemingly getting rid of the One for him all seemed well and as he ventured forth to return Kuripa was dragged down by Eclipso to Lillith. As they simply wanted to drain another host demon of his power Kuripa rebelled ascending to the surface to find Mr Ryderu again and repossessed him while getting off the flight back home. Some mischief caused making him a wanted man in Japan so he assumed his life was in ruin. Katana sensing the rogue soul tracked him down in Japan and sought to split the Oni from him. The Oni Kuripa not seeking to be trapped resisted and succeeded in breaking the Soultaker. On a subsequent rampage it tracked down and also slew the only person capable of repairing the sword not seeking eternal imprisonment while Jack Ryderu left powerless was nearly killed by attemtping to evade the police in Japan. The Oni Kuripa returned and finding him inches from death, repossessed him and followed Katana surreptitiously back to the US. Seeing Katana as the only person who could help Kuripa traveled back with her as once the morning arrived Jack Ryderu returned to her amazement. Still seeking out help, she introduced him to her team who could help: The Outsiders
Unable for the moment to find a solution, in the interim he now wears an enchanted vest of the Uroko pattern. This snakelike power wards off complete control by Kuripa and grants him the powers without the contest of a demonic entity within his brain. Now known in the US as the Creeper he stalks those who would seek injustice while causing a little chaos and havoc now and again.
