Königstein Fortress, also called the "Saxon Bastille", is a hilltop fortress near my hometown Dresden, in Saxon Switzerland, Germany. It is located above the town of Königstein and is one of the largest hilltop fortifications in Europe. I have always wanted to visit Germany. Aside from the British Isles, this is the next place that I wanted to go. This particular shot just reinforces that feeling.
I like the blending of the colors here. The sky and the forest, the fortress, the distance, everything seems to flow together so well.
Here in the lower right, I can't tell if that is the sun's reflection on those forest trees or their natural color changing. But, it works well in the shot.
Then you have the foreground where it looks to be a field and that color of beige, light brown, golden color seems to contrast so well with the greens.
There seems to be a bit of a haze in the distance there, but it works with the shot. Any shot more or less can always stand some sort of improvement, but this shot does have a natural blending here.
Where the clouds are concerned. Are they in the process of forming and a rainstorm is coming? Or has the rainstorm already happened, hence the haze? Looks like it could go either way here. But I like the depth of those clouds. Very intense.
I will say this, the shot itself makes me want to visit that castle/fortress. I would like to see what is there.
