Don't get me wrong I like it as well. However if it was down a tone or two it would, still have that overexposed look while haveing slightly more tone variations & would produce a even better image in my oppion turning a exlenet image in to a outstanding one.

This is shown by the image actually looking better smaller then larger as smaller over a square centermeter you have more varation in tone. It also means it would not take much in the way of tone to do this, meaning you can still have that over exposed look.

What sort of flash were you using? depending on the camera or flash their should be a option of ever firing the flash slightly earlier giving a slightly more ambient effect or controling the strength of the flash. Some thign worth looking into.

The Eos 400D if any thing like the 350D does have this option. On the 350D it on the 2nd menu under Flash extra comp. - will give you a image with fair less flash burn though I recomend playing around till you get the ecact effect you want. Even film cameras have some sort of option like this for instance the film camera I use the Manolta 6000SI. This is some thing to consider when buying a camera, while when looking at flashes its important to consider how many manual setting they have, can you bounce the light of over objects such as the roof, can you purcase or does it come with some sort of diffuser and can you use multible flashes.

is the lens a soft focus lens? Any way keep up the work. Not sure if the lighting is to other the top or just right. Over all i like this work though.

Anyway. Very nice, and i like the way you've used the extreme contrast of your eyes with the delicate surrounding tones.
