Quick facts about the moon:

The Moon is the earth's only natural satellite, and the only heavenly body to be stepped upon by humans (besides the earth)

The moon causes the tides, gravitationally causing the oceans to slosh around, the gravity of the oceans pulling back actually transfers energy to the moon, as the tides literally pull it a tiny bit faster, because of this, the moon is "falling up" at a rate of about 4 cm per year, when the moon first formed, it was much larger in the sky and much closer to earth.
