Using an IPad with the Apple Pencil is great. It’s the same as having a Wacom Cintiq. Software is more limited to the currently available apps. I use Procreate which is more than enough for art work. I would say that you can do everything from pencil sketching through to finished work on the iPad. It even lets you export psd files to finish production with on a computer. The iPad is light weight, has great battery life and the Apple Pencil is better than the Wacom stylus in my opinion. The main hurdle is getting used to using a pencil/stylus on the screen. Pen and paper have a little bit of grip and are easier at first, but if you’ve used a graphics tablet then you’re already there. Being able to take a photograph of my sketches and then ink and colour them on the iPad is a time saver.
